Alder Developments continues to diversify and expand its operations throughout North Queensland with the purchase of Bowen Marina.
Located at the end of Henry Darwen Memorial Drive, the marina consists of two main buildings and 22 berths fit for vessels from 10 metres to 20 metres requiring medium and long term berthing.
Alder Developments’ General Manager, Greg Tupicoff, says the acquisition of Bowen Marina further cements the company’s commitment to investing in the Whitsunday region.
“The Bowen Marina is regarded as one of the safest ports in Queensland located in a prime vantage point on the fringe of one of the largest and best-known coral reefs in the world, the Great Barrier Reef,” says Mr Tupicoff.
“With the transition to the new ownership we plan to utilise the experience of our Alder Development team to rejuvenate the marina while investigating the future potential of the facility in consultation with local Government, State Government and the community.
“We are now seeking prospective tenants from marine-based enterprises through to marine tourism, looking to utilise the Bowen Marina’s spaces, with an aim of accommodating a range of tourism-related businesses such as fishing charters, jetski tours, commercial fishing operations, and land-based marine repair services such as sail makers, shipwrights, and marine motor and electrical repairs. In fact we are even looking at how we can take advantage of the broader Bowen Harbour assets by getting involved in the master planning for the broader area. We would love to see more diverse uses such as restaurants, microbreweries and similar tourism uses in the Bowen Harbour in the not too distant future.”
Alder Developments will draw on the expertise responsible for the company’s successful development of numerous commercial projects to date including the award-winning, A-grade, 4,180sqm office space M1 Connect Business Hub on the Gold Coast, and the 15-lot industrial precinct, Aspire at Yatala.
“The acquisition of Bowen Marina demonstrates our commitment to the continued investment in the Whitsunday Regional Council area while remaining diligent in our continued effort to diversify our development pipeline of projects in line with the market demands,” says Mr Tupicoff.
The purchase follows Alder Developments’ initial expansion into the region in 2022 with the purchase of the last major subdivision site in the suburb of Airlie Beach, the 24-hectare lot known as Airlie Summit. Currently the subdivided Lookout release lots are on sale and the next stage is getting ready for construction, with the development offering some of the best views in the freehold land market.
The company further cemented its presence in the region last year (2023) with the purchase of a 100-hectare parcel of land at Shute Harbour Road, Cannon Valley which is currently undergoing the development approval process.
Alder Developments continues to demonstrate its ability to successfully expand its geographical footprint throughout the east coast of Australia with projects expanding north to the Whitsundays region and south to Ballina in New South Wales with the creation of a satellite office.
